Battery charging
« on: April 02, 2008, 16:18:40 »
I undestand it takes a run of about 10 miles to fully charge a battery however I was wondering if there was any correlation between the charge rate and the rev rate of the engine?

Yes there is up to a point the charge at tick-over is very much less than the charge at 2000rpm, however the charge rate at 4000rpm will not be that much greater than the charge rate at 2000rpm. This is because the alternator is fitted with a regulator to limit it's output so as not to over charge and damage the battery.

So, in conclusion doing 120mph up the M4 will not charge your battery any quicker ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
